How to Grow
Sow cornflower seeds directly into well-drained soil in a sunny spot. Keep soil moist until germination, then enjoy colourful blooms all summer.
Sowing
Sow cornflower seeds on the surface of the soil and keep well hydrated. You can start the seeds indoors earlier and plant outside after the last frost.
Growing
Sow Cornflower seeds from March to May or in early autumn for earlier blooms the following year. Scatter seeds directly over raked, fine soil and lightly press them in — covering only very thinly. Choose a sunny spot; Cornflowers thrive in full light and poor, free-draining soils.
Plant care
Cornflowers are low-maintenance annuals. Water during prolonged dry weather, but avoid overwatering — they prefer leaner soils. Deadhead regularly to keep flowers coming all summer. Leave a few flower heads to dry naturally if you’d like them to self-seed.
