How to Grow

Gaura seeds can be sown indoors from February to July or directly outdoors after the last frost risk has passed. They thrive in full sun and prefer well-drained soil to encourage their graceful perennial flowers.

  • Sowing

Sow the seeds about 3mm deep in a small tray filled with compost, then water in and cover with a clear container to retain warmth, ideally placing them on a warm windowsill to promote germination.

  • Growing

Once seedlings are established, thin them out or pot on to a 20 cm container to allow room for growth. Gaura plants do well in balconies, containers, or garden beds where their height and spread can be accommodated.

  • Plant care

Water Gaura plants regularly during dry spells, especially while they establish, but avoid waterlogging. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued blooming from June through October, maintaining their attractive appearance and supporting pollinators.
