How to Grow
Start Echinacea 'Magnus' seeds indoors between February and May or from August to September, as this perennial thrives when given a warm, sunny environment to begin growth. It prefers full sun and well-drained soil to establish strong plants that will flower from the second year onwards.
Sowing
Sow the seeds on the surface of moist soil and press them in lightly without covering, as Echinacea purpurea seeds need light to germinate reliably. Place the tray on a warm, sunny windowsill to encourage successful sprouting.
Growing
Once seedlings are established, pot them on and grow on in good light before hardening off and planting out in full sun. Space plants about 0.5 metres apart to allow for their mature spread and to promote sturdy growth up to 1 metre tall, ideally in containers or garden beds with at least 45 cm pot size.
Plant care
Water Echinacea 'Magnus' regularly during the first growing season, reducing to only during prolonged dry spells thereafter. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage extended blooming throughout the summer months of June to September, or leave seed heads to provide structure and support wildlife. Cut back the plants in autumn or early spring to maintain healthy growth for the following year.

Yes. Echinacea is a hardy perennial in the UK. Plants usually establish in the first year and return each summer, with flowering becoming stronger from the second year onwards.
Cut flowers once plants are fully established and blooms are open, typically from mid to late summer. Harvest in the morning for the longest vase life, and regular cutting will encourage more flowers.
