How to Grow

Wild Rocket ‘Wasabi’ is quick to germinate and easy to keep going as a cut-and-come-again salad. Sow little and often, keep the soil moist, and you’ll have peppery leaves on hand for weeks.

  • Sowing

Sow Wasabi Rocket seeds thinly onto damp, well-drained soil and cover very lightly. You can sow into pots, window boxes or beds from early spring to late summer, or year-round indoors. Keep the compost just moist and place somewhere bright but not baking hot until seedlings appear.

  • Growing

Once seedlings are big enough to handle, thin or transplant them to around 10–15cm apart so each plant has room to fill out. Water regularly, especially in containers, and aim for steady moisture rather than soaking and drying out. In hot weather, a little light shade helps keep the leaves tender and slows bolting.

  • Plant care

Pick young leaves often, cutting just above the base so plants can regrow – this keeps them leafy and full of flavour. Sow a new pot or row every few weeks for a continuous supply. If plants start to flower and the flavour gets too strong, let a few bloom for pollinators and replace with a fresh sowing.
